The Institute for Design Problems in Microelectronics of the Russian Academy of Sciences was founded in 1986th. Since 2023rd, the Institute is subordinate to the National Research Center «Kurchatov Institute» and operates under methodical guidance of Department of Nanotechnology and Information Technology of RAS.

The basic purpose of Institute is execution of fundamental scientific researches and applied developments in the field of automatization of designing nano- and microelectronic systems and devices.

The main directions of scientific activity of Institute are:

• the CAD systems in micro- and nanoelectronics,
• development of high-efficiency microelectronic computing systems,
• designing of perspective devices and integrated circuits of micro- and nanoelectronics.

Among employees of Institute are the academician of the Russian Academy of Science, two Corresponding Members of the RAS 11 doctors of sciences and 13 candidates of sciences.

Alongside with fundamental researches, scientists and experts of Institute carry out applied developments both under plans of the Russian Academy of Science, and under contracts with the Ministries and departments of our country, russian and foreign firms.

The institute is the organizer of the All-Russia scientific and technical conference "Problems of Advanced Micro- and Nanoelectronic Systems Development".

The institute has Council on award of degrees of the doctor and the candidate of sciences operates.
